The Great European Wedding Tour!

On the road with Monstaball Party Band – playing at a Wedding in Bordeaux, France and a Wedding in Palma De Mallorca

A frontman with a backdrop!

We were lucky enough to line up 2 weddings in the sunshine at the beginning of September this year. One Wedding In France and one Wedding in Mallorca.
It was also a massive bonus that both wedding parties were more than ready to rock their socks off, so we had an absolute ball!

Heading To A Wedding In France

First we drove our van down to Bordeaux for Stuart and Catherine’s wedding in a stunning French Chateau. I have to say at this point that when I asked why they chose Bordeaux, Catherine said it was because they really like wine and cheese .. which I’m sure you’ll agree is a perfectly good reason!
Chateau De Lisse is an absolute beauty as you can see by the photos, and Jo .. who runs the chateau with her chef husband Jean Marc .. looked after us perfectly whilst making sure Stuart & Catherine and all their guests had the day of their dreams!

Acoustic Duo Drinks Reception

We started with an acoustic duo in the gardens for their drinks reception. The atmosphere was amazing and wedding guests were chatting and soaking up the sunshine and the breathtaking views.
There were lizards on the wall behind us and a new challenge for Al when a hornet headed towards his microphone but he managed to keep his cool and only miss a couple of lyrics.

Soundchecking for the Acoustic Duo

The wedding breakfast was outside with a sunset followed by candles as it got dark. We could hear everyone getting revved up while we set up ready for the full band gig in the ‘rave cave’.

The Party and First Dance

Stuart and Catherine chose Paradise by George Ezra for their 1st dance which was just right for the happy mood, and from then on we all had a right old jamboree!
When guests needed to cool off and take a rest from the dancing they could sit outside with fairy lights in the trees and cold drinks from the outside bar which was provided by The Impeccable Pear.

Hitting it hard in the Rave Cave!

We stayed nearby at a lovely Airbnb in the middle of a vineyard (of course) and next day we headed to Toulouse airport for a flight to Mallorca for Gemma & James’s wedding with just our instruments. The PA system and lighting were supplied by Velvet Music who treated us to the best of the best of sound guys called Sylvan who made our job easy!

Next Stop Palma!

We picked up a hire car in Palma airport and reached our hotel at about 1am. There was a slight delay setting off next morning when I (Abi) couldn’t remember where I’d parked the hire car .. which I swear had changed colour since we picked it up .. but we got to the venue in time and it was another stunner! Finca Son Berga.

Arriving at Finca Son Berga in our elusive hire car

We played an acoustic duo for drinks reception which got pretty lively and we had the whole wedding party singing along on the last few songs. There were a few more flying creatures to contend with but it was a magnificent setting and hot hot hot!

We were spoilt rotten with a 3 course meal and a table in the sun! We chatted to our soundguy Sylvan and the photographers.

Not too shabby for a working lunch!!

First Dance and Wedding Music

We learned Lover of the Light for Gemma and James’s first dance, which is a brilliant first dance song! That was followed by another good old knees up with some crowd surfing from James!
After the band the guests ate churros with chocolate dipping sauce which refuelled everyone ready for the sax & DJ till the wee small hours.

The whole trip was tops and a great way to end the summer! We’re super grateful to our lovely couples, guests, venues and Velvet Music.

We feel we should warn anyone travelling to Palma that the airport is HUGE and you need to walk (run) at least a kilometre from customs checks to the boarding gate. We only just made it!
